Woodland Heights, Virginia is a neighborhood in the city of Richmond. It was first advertised in 1891 as a riverside retreat with proximity to downtown.

At that time, the South Bank of the James River was still mainly farms and woodlands. The cliffs of the Heights, some 190 feet above, offered views of the river below and Richmond beyond. Fresh breezes provided relief from the summer heat and city dwellers built cottages across the river to enjoy on weekends and holidays.

Though not grand by any standard, the newly built retreats were often given names. Jeff is lucky to live at Ferncliff, which still provides a cooler, greener more relaxed living space than the city proper, while being just an eight minute drive to the Capitol.

So many policy discussions, campaign strategies, fundraisers and message development have taken shape by the Ferncliff fireplace mantel, it is only natural it be incorporated into Jeff’s business.
